Arsenal and Alexis Sanchez continued their fine record against Hull as Arsene Wenger's side won a third straight Premier League match for the first time since December. Hull have only beaten the Gunners once since and that poor run was extended on Saturday, with Sanchez's double helping to secure a win against a City side who were reduced to 10 men just before the break after Jake Livermore was sent off. Sanchez has now scored six goals in five matches in all competitions against the Tigers, and got the first of Saturday's contest early on after directing home an Alex Iwobi shot.
Skipper Harlee Dean and a Chris Humphrey own goal compounded the misery for Simon Grayson's side as four strikes in 13 second-half minutes sealed their fate. There was little of the final scoreline at the break, when Brentford ledand Preston should have taken the lead with 13 minutes gone. Callum Robinson pinged a superb diagonal ball from left to right to find the incoming Jordan Hugill, but his first-time effort was blocked bravely at point-blank range by Bees goalkeeper Daniel Bentley. The former Southend player spread himself bravely to keep the score deadlocked in a first half of few clear-cut chances.
